Death in Vesunna is a time travel science fiction short story by Harry Turtledove using his Eric Iverson pseudonym and Elaine O'Byrne, his wife at the time.

In it, two shady time travellers, Lou Muller and Mark Alvarez, go from 2059 AD back to 147 AD and to the Roman town of Vesunna in Aquitaine. They are searching for a copy of Sophokles' Aleadai. While no copy exists in their own time, rare copies are still around in the second century AD. Their client in the future was willing to pay a large sum for a copy.

Clodius Eprius was the owner of a copy in Vesunna and agreed to sell it for seventy-five aurei but first wish to have a copy made since it was a family heirloom. This was unacceptable to Muller and Alvarez since it would leave a trail that the Time Patrol might pick up. They attempted to steal the scroll instead but Eprius resisted, striking Alvarez a hard blow with his stout walking stick. While Eprius turned his attention to Muller, Alvarez recovered, drew a revolver and shot Eprius dead.

They then picked up the scroll and ran to their inn to lay low. Their time machine needed three weeks to recharge but how could these primitives understand firearms and track them down? All they need to do was wait and they would soon be rich.
