The word "bridezilla" is a portmanteau combining bride with the fictional rampaging beast "Godzilla" to indicate a difficult bride.
Bridezilla in "Father of the Groom"[]
At a family gathering Stacey, a bridesmaid at an upcoming wedding, referred to Kate, the bride, as going Bridezilla. She was careful to not let her cousin, "Archie" the groom, hear her to protect his feelings but neglected do the same with the father of the groom, Professor Tesla Kidder.[1] It got him to thinking and since he was a mad scientist, it led to an "unfortunate incident", to wit: Tesla Kidder briefly turned Kate into an actual Bridezilla monster by means of his long-range genetic recodifier. However, after his wife Kathy and son Archie pressed Kidder to stop this, Kidder relented and turned Kate back to normal.[2]
