Blue Front was a home-appliance retailer in Glendale, California that serviced the entire Los Angeles metro area before World War III. Blue Front was owned by Glendale resident Herschel Weissman.[1]

After the Soviet Union successfully destroyed downtown L.A. with two atomic bombs on March 2, 1951, Blue Front (which was far enough away to survive) fell into desperate financial straits.[2]

By mid-1951, the situation in the L.A. metro area had achieved something like stability, and Blue Front started selling appliances again.[3]
