General Andrei Andreyevich Vlasov (Russian, Андрéй Андрéевич Влáсов) (14 September 1900 — 2 August 1946) was a Soviet Red Army general who was captured by German forces early in World War II, and who defected and collaborated with the Nazis until he surrendered to the Americans in 1945. He was kidnapped back by the Soviets two days later, who tried and executed Vlasov in 1946.

Andrei Vlasov's fate was on the minds of most of the Soviet officials in occupied Germany after World War II. Vladimir Bokov believed that Vlasov's trial and pending execution warned off other Soviets who might seek to collaborate with the Germans.

Red Army officer Yuri Vlasov, who was not related to the traitor, worked especially hard to deflect any suspicion from himself, for example by flatly vetoing Bokov's proposal to cooperate with the Americans in crushing the German Freedom Front.
