Amorion was a city in Phrygia, Asia Minor, which was founded by Greeks in the Hellenistic period, flourished under the Byzantine Empire, and declined after the Arab attack of 838. Its ruins are located near the village of Hisarköy, Turkey.
Amorion in "Farmers' Law"[]
Amorion was the capital of the Anatolic Theme. Abrostola was six miles from Amorion.[1] During the reign of Emperor Constantine V, a farmer named Theodore was murdered in Abrostola. Because Abrostola was quite proud of its icons, the villagers were hesitant to notify the authorities in Amorion for fear that their icons would be removed and destroyed.[2]
