Alfred Dreyfus (9 October 1859 – 12 July 1935), a Jewish officer in the French Army, was wrongfully convicted for treason in the late 19th century. His conviction was in part motivated by anti-Semitism.

Centuries after his persecution and imprisonment, Alfred Dreyfus' descendant, Jacob Dreyfus, proved that the Jews were indeed God's chosen people, changing the fortunes of the Jews for the better.
