Alexander Volchkov in The Man With the Iron Heart[]

Alexander Volchkov survived the German Freedom Front's attack on the Palace of Justice in December 1945, which prevented war crimes trials of Nazis from taking place. The primary Soviet judge, Iona Nikitchenko, was killed along with over 200 people.

As Volchkov was being taken out on a stretcher, Lou Weissberg mistook him for Nikitchenko. Volchkov, who had some English, corrected Weissberg, and informed those present that Nikitchenko was dead.[1]
