Agis in "The Daimon"
In 413 BC, Sparta fell to the Athenian general Alkibiades. Agis II formally surrendered to Alkibiades, who allowed the king to live so long as he was loyal to Athens. Subsequently, Alkibiades overthrew the government of Athens upon his return, and seize absolute power. He strengthened ties to Sparta while he consolidated his own rule. By 412, Athens and Sparta were prepared to attack their mutual enemy, Persia.
